				      <title>Friday, May 09th, 2008 - Cherish</title>
				      <link>http://www.edmontonevents.com/index.php&#63;com=detail&amp;eID=546</link>
<description>'Wanting something isn't the same as having a right to it'
It's in a child's best interest to have two loving and caring parents regardless of how the child is brought into the world. But you can't always get what you want . . . Jess and Maee each have a daughter fathered by Tom, who lives with contract lawyer William. The deal is that now Jesswill have another child for Tom and William to raise . . however, Jess realizes that she can't give the baby away. In anger, Tom turns to William to take the matter to court to establish his paternity rights.
In an ever-changing world where the definition of family has broadened, New Zealand playwright Ken Duncum has written a topical play about gay parents and surrogacy. Two couples struggle to stay together and break apart, as they fight through a custody battle. Northern Light Theatre is extremely pleased to present the Canadian premiere of this provocative script that will no doubt have audiences in serious thought and discussion.</description>
